Oliver got his very first pair of soccer cleats today. I bought them and 3 pairs of tiny shin guards for about $1.50! He refuses to wear the shin guards because they feel funny (Ryan never much liked wearing shin guards either, and generally wore child's-sized guards and even cut-out pizza boxes to satisfy the league's requirements), but he sure does look like a big kid in the cleats!

Nice! He looks so big. Want to get together soon?
so cute! My son just got his first pair of football boots yesterday and has gone to the park with his daddy to play. He wants to be a champion one day (in my heart he already is) xx
that is so cute!
This makes me think...my mom and I are having a garage sale in two weeks--any advice??
And this also makes me realize we haven't even gotten the boys "real" balls yet. They have lots of play balls, but nothing like an actual soccer or basketball. And they love them! Don't mention this failing to your husband.
Love you! Love that little cleated boy!
Oliver looks like a "natural-born" athlete! Have cleats; will play soccer!!
And Ryan, why didn't we know about the "cardboard shin guards"?? Or was it just me that didn't know??
Hmmm....will he be a Beckham or a Schmeichel....THAT is THE question! Either way...he looks great. And who needs shin guards anyway...shin guards are for sissies. :-)
Kudos to Granddad for the Schmeichel usage!!! Well, it typecasting has anything to do with it, Oliver's blonde/blue screams more Danish than Brit. We may have to keep our eyes out at garage sales for some XXXS keeper gloves!
And, Groover, ya know that phrase 'Necessity is the father of innovation?' Well, when I was in college, I left my shin guards on the field after practice. I came back the next day to find a freshly mowed field with clippings of white plastic strewn about the field. Naturally, the average college student wouldn't have money for $7 shin guards but DEFINITELY had enough for an order of Cheesebread!
I'm thinking about working out a sponsorship with Papa Johns and getting my product into stores... :-)
Apologies to my mom for referring to her as 'Groover'...Clearly the coffee has not seeped to my typing lobe quite yet.
