As the clouds darkened over fair Franklin,
and the children grew anxious at sound of the ominous thunder,
there was one girl who was not afraid!
One blissfully ignorant girl who doesn't know rain as anything but cool and new and magical.
And so it came. And it came hard.
And the more it rained, the more she flapped and danced
and ventured off of the porch and into the wonderful downpour of delight.
Because for her, a thunderstorm was nothing to fear. It was an opportunity - a chance to learn and dance and flit around.
She had nothing to fear - Mama was right nearby.
And as the rains subsided and the thunder quieted,
the children went inside, wet and safe and happy.
Today I saw the world through the eyes of my child.
And I remembered what it's like to be a child of God.
My girl danced in the rain and reminded me, in the face of a storm, to let go with abandon and feel the rain on my face.
After all, my Father is right near by.

So much we can learn from our kids! So sweet.
BEAUTIFUL! My oldest son (16) and youngest daughter (9) who always seem to be in "discussion" mode (= fighting!!) walked together around our yard, in the pouring rain just the other day. I watched quietly from the window and hoped it would stay with me as a forever memory. Thank you for sharing this with your readers - I know now that another mother had a forever memory implanted.
Love this post. We had the same experience with our little man the other day... only, I didn't get cute pics like you did ;)
The Lord has used this to encourage my heart as my young, little family is facing many storms including the separation of my parents after 31 years of marriage. Life is full of heartache, but I am reminded and thankful that Jesus is always near. Thank you for posting! Your children are beautiful! :)
Thank you for the sweet reminder!
I lost my mom to cancer this past week and really needed this reminder. Thanks for letting God speak through you today.
so beautiful, so needed.
Quite possibly the most wonderful blog post ever. Tears! :)
Carey,
I don't know if you're following the comments here but since there's no other way to contact you I just want to say how sorry I am to hear about your loss.
This is definitely a time to remember that the Highest is higher than everything else we are facing right now. I am sad with you tonight as you miss your Mama.
Blessings,
Raechel
Sweet, sweet girl! I guess she wasn't concerned about ruining her hair-do. We got caught in a down pour the other day. My two kiddos were singing in the rain.
